Since time is of the essence here I thought it best to start at the end, of both the story and my most recent thoughts about it; The Irish Referendum v’s The Neverending Story.
In order to save the fantastical world of Fantasia The young Bastian needed to do one thing, respond to the Childlike Empress’s plea to give her a name, but first he had to understand and believe that he was part of the story he found himself reading. Just before the destruction of the entire world of Fantasia he did so, the name he gave to the Empress was the only name he could think of, that of his deceased mother ‘Moonchild’.
Without a name the ‘Childlike Empress,’ like everything around her would cease to exist. It is the very same today, we have the power to stop the nothingness that creeps into our existence, part of the on going attack that we collectively face is conditioning us to believe we don’t.
Over recent weeks I can’t help but cross compare the final scenes of the film version to what is happening in Ireland today. The only difference is that the Nothingness comes in the form of the government here who under the guise of equality are trying to remove the word ‘Mother’ from article 41.2 in the constitution.
By now we know their reasons, and their wished for conclusion, it’s like poorly written script that deserves nothing but second-hand embarrassment for the unfortunate literary fool that thought it had the potential to be a best seller.
I can only conclude from my brief interactions with the mainstream media that there is a collective assumption that the Irish have forgotten how to read, or there is an expectation that they they have absolutely no comprehension.
The extent that RTE and the childless homosexual politicians are instrumental in deliberately misinterpreting the articles they plan to change, illustrates an absolute contempt for all of the mothers of this land. Those intelligent enough to understand that the language and justifications used have no basis in any reality, other than to usher in a miserable transhuman, post nuclear-family horror show.
They did not have to remove the word ‘Mother’ and ‘home’ to make a point about inclusivity, they could have just made an addition to include all parental guardians. In echo’s of what happened to Fantasia, the terrible nothing sweeping over the land is on a trajectory to target to destroy target both the home and the mother.
If you have ever watched the film, the Neverending story, or better still read the book there will be iconic symbols you will remember. Its only after being haunted by this story over the past few years can I now partially understand why, and why it’s the right time to allow some thoughts of mine materialise.
But like in the story, we find our self in the last moments before something sacred is erased forever in the constitution. It’s 7am on the 8th of March 2024.
Taken from an extract in the book, the Childlike Princess explains why so much depends on the name Bastian gives her.
“Only the right name gives beings and things their reality,” She said “A wrong name makes everything unreal. That’s what lies do” (p.205 Ende 1984).
In Ireland replacing ‘Mother’ with carer and the ‘family’ with the idea of durable relationships is more than reductive, it’s an attack. The endgame is to remove any constitutional protections for a Mother and her relationship with her child, how that child is educated and where that education takes place. Ultimately this is part of a greater ongoing assault on women, a term that our prestigious ministers in Ireland and worldwide are incapable or too afraid to define.
As (state funded) NGO’s and pharmaceutical companies are given free reign to infect the school curriculum with ideologies that promote dissociative states in children, it seems all but too convenient that an attack is being waged on their primary protector. This all spearheaded by a government who has admitted to having ‘lost’ hundreds of children in state custody over the past couple of years, twenty two only last month. Not one person has admitted accountability for the ‘missing, presumably trafficked minors, not least the minister for plantation and child trafficking Roderic O’Gormororn.
It came as no surprise that the author Michael Ende who wrote ‘the Neverending Story the year I was born, has a deep interest in to the works of Rudolph Steiner. In his essay ‘Changes of Temperance through Life’ Steiner states the that Father principle occurs in the physical body and the mother principle occurs in the ethereal and asternal bodies, he was explaining something of the mothers influence to link their offspring to the ancestral, spiritual and creative elements, the very elements that are under attack today.
The constitution may be altered as a result of the vote today, but those instrumental in doing so have underestimated Mothers, we have created, given life to, and nurtured families that have populated this earth since he beginning of time, that is the only durable relationship of consequence, our position is immutable.
The name Moonchild deserves it’s own enquiry, I’m hastily assuming it has something to do with the feminine nature of the moon and it’s influence on a females monthly cycle and reproduction, but that is an avenue I’ve no time today to explore!
By strange coincidence, I was speaking with my own Mother about this, she is an artist, she mentioned to me that she named one of her paintings ‘Moonchild’, she painted this one or two years ago. My mother explained this painting is of a mother holding her baby safe in a nebula looking down upon the moon contemplating where in the universe would be a place of safety. I was taken aback by the prophetic nature of this painting. My mother also mentioned later that she had neither read the book nor had she watched The Neverending Story.
Moonchild by Jo Whelan Ross 2022
This was the final prompt I needed to share these rambling thoughts, it also reminded me that of that ethereal connection and the creativity that Steiner addressed in his essay all those years ago, its so powerful it transcends time and space, in this instance anyway.
I am convinced that whatever the outcome today, one thing unexpected has emerged and that is a unification of the majority of the mothers on this land. For the first time they have been given the opportunity to fully understand how sacred and important they are, and have had the opportunity to defend their position head on. Regardless of what happens today, Irish mothers are the most ferociously protective people on earth, for they know the attack is only upon them because they are standing in the way of the children they would die protecting.
A story can be a plateau from which another emerges, giving life to a new set of ideas like a wild horse it can gallop straight in to another tale or event, morphing like magic in to a metaphor, giving us an enriched understanding of of the the original story and of the one we find ourselves a part of. The Neverending story has haunted me relentlessly over the past few years, bending to and giving a deeper understanding of so many trials we have collectively experienced, its enduring quality is that despite all seemingly being at the mercy of a great nothing, it is belief, hope and courage that eventually prevails.
I’ll have to continue this later, I’m off to cast my vote for what it’s worth!

Good reading here.
